It has been a pleasure exploring and testing materials and creating relationships with the local vendors in Los Angeles. We are supporting our local small businesses and we love them dearly.
This is our best seller. It has a nice grit for tying a turban and softens beautifully over time.
Light Weight Cotton
This is the standard fabric for our botanically dyed turbans. It is light weight, ties great and receives the dye in such a stunning way.
The gorgeous sister. Rayon is a tree based silk which receives the dye in the most incredible way. For sure our favorite “canvas”.
Plant Based Dyeing
All of our dyes are organic and ethically sourced.
Indigo: Indigo is a traditional Japanese art form/technique to achieve patterns and color. By twisting, tying and binding the fabric we create interesting patterns of white against varying degrees of blue.
Bundle Dyeing: We place various plants, barks, flowers, plant powdering into fabric, roll it up and steam it to imprint the fabric with unique one of a kind colors and patterns.
Immersion baths: Is a process of creating a solid color from one to many plants in a pot. Currently we are exploring madder root, cochineal, eucalyptus, logwood, sequoia and walnut hulls.
We use non-toxic, fiber-reactive dyes poured over ice to create a different take on traditional tie dye.
